Kenworth adds roof fairing for T270, T370 models

March 7, 2013

Indianapolis. Kenworth Truck Co. announced that its T270 and T370 medium-duty models now come equipped with an optional roof fairing.

A T270 van body truck and T370 4x4 and T370 truck with dump box are on display this week along with five other Kenworth models at the National Truck Equipment Assn.’s Work Truck Show.

“In the heavy-duty segment, roof fairings are a common sight, but not so much for medium-duty fleets,” said Doug Powell, Kenworth medium duty marketing manager. “However, we expect to see a transformation in that area. There has been a surge in requests for roof fairings for our medium-duty conventionals, and we’re pleased to now offer the aerodynamic fairings for tractors, as well as trucks that run box vans.”

The roof fairing is available for factory installation as a two-piece model. It can also be installed at a Kenworth dealership as a one-piece version.

“The fairings are similar to what we’ve run on our Class 8 trucks, so they’re proven in durability and functionality,” said Powell. “And, with their low cost, the benefits and paybacks in ROI, thanks to improved fuel economy, can be relatively short.”

The Kenworth T270 and T370 are available with the Paccar PX-7 and Paccar PX-9 engines. The 6.7L PX-7 offers ratings of 200 to 325 hp. and up to 750 lbs.-ft. of torque for the T270 and T370.

The 8.9L PX-9 includes heavy duty features such as replaceable wet liners, roller cam followers, bypass oil filtration and targeted piston-cooling. The engine offers ratings of 260 to 350 hp. and up to 1,000 lbs.-ft. of torque for the T270 and T370.
