Alcoa Ultra wheels now available on Peterbilt Class 8 trucks

Aug. 11, 2014

Peterbilt Motors Co. said that Alcoa Ultra aluminum wheels are now a factory-installed option on all Peterbilt Class 8 heavy-duty trucks. The wheels are manufactured from a MagnaForce alloy for additional strength and lower weight.

“This is a great new option for our customers in weight-conscious applications and other markets who want to run lighter and have confidence in the proven durability of Alcoa’s aluminum wheels,” said Robert Woodall, Peterbilt director of sales and marketing. “The MagnaForce alloy reduces weight without sacrificing strength, and the new Ultra wheels feature the polished finish and styling customers love.”

According to the company, Alcoa Ultra wheels are 5 lbs. lighter than previous products (22.5 in. x 8.25 in.) and offer the same load rating of 14,600 lbs. Additionally, the new wheels are compatible with air-disc brakes, which are standard on the steering axles of all Class 8 Peterbilts.
