Carrier Transicold has enhanced warranty coverage on its Vector line of trailer refrigeration units. The company said the improvements “reflect the series’ reputation for reliability.” The enhancements include covering major component coverage for 48 months/8,000 hours. The Vector series includes the single- temperature 8500, multi-temperature 8600MT and the engine-less 8100 (designed for stationary applications) reefer units.
“Vector systems deliver dual benefits of reduced maintenance and higher system reliability because they are less complex than conventional mechanical systems and comparative semi-electric systems,” said Patrick McDonald, product manager – trailer.
“Our latest-generation Vector units build on this legacy, employing a fully hermetic electric scroll compressor with 70 percent fewer moving parts than a traditional reciprocating compressor,” he continued.
McDonald also observed that “eliminating mechanical parts, such as belts, pulleys, compressor shaft seals and vibrasorbers that require service and periodic replacement, reduces service requirements while improving reliability. In short, if it’s not there, it can’t break. It’s one of the key reasons we’re able to offer improved warranty coverage for our latest models.”
The warranties for the hybrid Vector 8500 and Vector 8600MT units now include 48-month/8,000-hour major component coverage for the engine, generator and compressor. This compares with 36-month/6,000-hour coverage on earlier models. Additionally, the APX control’s microprocessor and stepper valve modules are warrantied for 60 months/10,000 hours – one year longer than comparative control systems.
The Vector units continue to offer 12 months of unlimited coverage and 36-month/6,000-hour limited coverage for the entire unit. On the multi-temp Vector 8600MT, basic warranty coverage for the new, smarter remote evaporators has been extended to 36 months/6,000 hours, triple the warranty for prior remote evaporators.
The Vector 8100 engineless unit for stationary cold-storage applications also now features improved warranty coverage, with the run-hours limit for 36-month basic coverage and 48-month major component coverage now extended to 10,000 hours.
