Kenworth has added Meritor Permalube RPL series drivelines as an option on selected, new Kenworth Class 8 on-highway trucks. In addition, the company has introduced a new remote, keyless entry system as an option for its T680 and T880.Meritor’s Permalube RPL drivelines feature permanent lubrication to help reduce operating and maintenance costs – plus they offer high torque capacities, Kenworth said.According to Kenworth, nylon thrust washers eliminate metal contact points to prevent wear, and triple-lip seals on U-joints help keep contaminants out. Advanced sealing features include an E-coated, protective steel guard that holds the slip seal securely and guards against contaminants and debris, the company said.“Meritor did an excellent job of engineering this Permalube RPL driveline series with no maintenance in mind, which is a huge benefit to our customers,” said Kurt Swihart, marketing director. “What’s more they provide extended U-joint life, especially important when gearing is set for gear-fast/run-slow operations.” In addition, the drivelines are backed by a five-year, 500,000-mile warranty for linehaul applications, according to Meritor. Kenworth also added remote keyless entry options for its T680 and T880. The entry provides two key fobs programmed to lock and un-lock the doors. Use a single click to unlock the driver’s side door and a double click to unlock both cab doors. Click the lock button once to lock both cab doors. The key fob also has a third button that allows operators to enable and disable the pre-trip light check without entering the cab.“Our customers said they wanted a simple, secure and affordable keyless entry system and this remote system delivers that and more,” Swihart said. “This is a straightforward system that remotely locks and unlocks your truck doors and helps keeps your truck secure.”The remote keyless entry system also can be retrofitted on existing Kenworth T680 and T880 vehicles with a retrofit kit available from Kenworth dealers.
