New Cascadia Preview: Welcome to the future

Sept. 1, 2016
With a dozen of Freightliner’s best customers (including some industry legends) on hand to take delivery, Daimler Trucks North America President and CEO Martin Daum on Wednesday pulled back the curtain on the company’s latest and greatest Class 8 truck, one that he predicts will “determine the future of Freightliner for the next ten years.”

COLORADO SPRINGS.

Unfortunately, the international media on hand would have to wait for the official 2018 Cascadia unveiling on Thursday to get more details about what Daum meant when he proclaimed “this is the day it all changed” to executives representing some of North America’s top fleets.

“I’m not going spill the beans, but this is the new frontier when it comes to fuel efficiency,” Daum said, and he also promised “new frontiers” for vehicle connectivity.

He called the presentation of the fleet-branded, 2017 Cascadia’s to Freightliner’s top customers “an emotional, great moment.”

More details to come, but enjoy some photos from the preview—and try to spot the new features (along with VIPs).
