Isuzu Commercial Truck of America Inc. set a new retail sales record in 2024, topping by 4% the previous record for low cab forward trucks set in 2023, the company reported to FleetOwner. The popular N-Series led the way, up 6%.
“2024 was a milestone year for us. We celebrated 40 years of Isuzu trucks in the U.S. and launched our first electric vehicle—to set a new retail sales record is amazing,” Shaun Skinner, president, Isuzu Commercial Truck of America, said in a statement. “Isuzu dealers really made the retail sales record possible. From defining our customer experience to bringing new customers into the Isuzu brand, they do a really great job at all levels.”
The company began production of the N-Series EV in August. The NRR-EV offers a variety of choices for customers to suit their range, payload, and body requirements and features a 19,500-lb. GVWR with four battery pack configurations (60, 100, 140, or 180 kWh). The development of an all-electric Isuzu NRR-EV truck integrated with the Thermo King e300 all-electric transport refrigeration unit was announced during the Advanced Clean Transportation Expo in May.

The lineup of Isuzu medium-duty, low-cab-forward trucks in 2024 also included Class 3, 4, and 5 N-Series models, with the Class 5 N-Series gas truck in NQR and NRR versions powered by a 6.6-liter gasoline V8. The company’s Class 4 and 5 N-Series models also feature the 4HK1-TC turbodiesel.
“For 2025, there’s a lot to be excited about, and we are in a great position for continued success,” Skinner said. “Our Class 3 to 5 product line in the N-Series gives customers a robust choice of powertrains and wheelbases that makes nearly everything possible with Isuzu. When you think about Class 6 and 7, our F-Series trucks have been very popular, and opportunities there continue to grow. Even with some regulatory uncertainty, Isuzu is in a great position to serve the vast needs of the medium-duty market.”
For 2025, the gas-powered Isuzu NPR, NPR-HD, and NQR use a 6.6-liter V8 gasoline engine, producing up to 350 hp at 4,500 rpm and 425 lb.-ft. torque at 3,800 rpm. The NPR and NPR-HD are equipped with a 6-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission, a lock-up torque converter, and two overdrive gears.
