Rich McArdle to take the reins at LTL carrier in June

Change is coming to the executive suite at UPS Freight, with Rich McArdle slated to take over the chief executive duties at the LTL carrier in June when Jack Holmes, the carrier’s current president, officially retires.

McArdle began his UPS career in 1982 as a part-time employee and in 1985 served with a UPS team that initiated international air service between the U.S. and Europe before going on to develop air service expansion plans to Canada, Japan, Southeast Asia and Central America.

In 2010, he began an assignment in UPS’s public affairs office in Washington, D.C., before taking on his current position as Mid-Atlantic District Manager last year.

Holmes, a 37-year veteran of UPS, plans to step down on June 30 this year after guiding UPS Freight since 2007.
