President George W. Bush intends to nominate Jeffrey William Runge as administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), according to a White House news report released yesterday.
Runge is currently facility physician and asst. chairman of the dept. of emergency medicine at the Carolinas Medical Center and specializes in motor vehicle injury care and prevention.
In 1996, Runge spent a year as a fellow at NHTSA and received the Highway Safety Leadership Award from the agency the same year. He also serves on the board of advisors of the University of North Carolina Highway Safety Research Center.
