LOUSEVILLE, KY— Fleet Owner presented its 2003 Fleet of the Year Awards today at the Mid-America Trucking Show. Recipients of this year’s awards were Knight Transportation, for-hire category; ADM, private fleet; and Waste Management, vocational segment.
David Williams, vp of equipment, accepted the award for Kinight Transportation. The company was recognized for its rock-solid business model and maintaining its close relationship with OEM’s— even during the 2002 pre-buy epidemic.
Bill Patterson, president, accepted the award for ADM. The fleet was recognized for creating the world’s largest agricultural transportation system that encompasses not only freight, but boat and rails as well.
Thomas Derieg, vp-fleet services and logistics, accepted the award for Waste Management. The company was recognized for turning a $2-billion loss for 1997-1999 into a $1.5-billion profit for 2002-2003.
Plaques and leather jackets were presented to the winners.
Editors of the magazine spent the past year searching for potential candidates as they researched assignments and attended various trucking events, meetings, shows and conferences.
