A laptop belonging to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) was stolen from a government vehicle in Baltimore, MD, last week, the agency has announced.
FMCSA said the laptop may contain personally identifiable information on 193 individuals who hold a commercial driver’s license (CDL) from 40 motor carrier companies. The agency said the laptop contained individual names, dates of birth, and CDL numbers. It does not appear that the laptops contained any financial or medical information, FMCSA said.
The 40 motor carrier companies have been notified of the theft of the laptop and have been given the names of the employees whose information may be on the laptop, as well as the states that issued the CDLs.
Drivers from the affected companies should contact their employers, FMCSA said, or contact FMCSA’s hotline at 800-832-5660.
