The Renewable Energy Group (REG) announced that production of biodiesel at Western Dubuque Biodiesel is now under way. The new facility, which is located near Farley, IA, is has a production capacity of 30-million gallons of “high-quality” biodiesel annually.
This brings to 13 the number of Iowa-based biodiesel plants, which together produce more than 258-million gallons a year.
The fuel will be made from soybeans and other vegetables. A bushel of soybeans yields about 1.4 gallons of biodiesel fuel, according to the Iowa Soybean Assn.
REG is a full-service biodiesel company that builds and manages biodiesel plants.
