The Dept. of Transportation (DOT) has announced its November Transportation Services Index (TSI) for Freight rose 1.7% from October to a record high of 113.2. This marks a 1.4% change compared with the same month last year.
The TSI for Freight consists of transportation operations such as for-hire trucking, railroad freight services, inland waterways transportation, pipeline transportation, and air freight. The index excludes coastal waterborne movements, private trucking, courier services and the US Postal Service, DOT noted.
The TSI is under development and is considered experimental, DOT added.
