Sweden-based Volvo Global Trucks has appointed new presidents at its North American operations, Volvo Trucks North America and Mack Trucks Inc.

Michel Gigou, most recently president and CEO of sister company Mack Trucks, has been appointed president of Volvo Trucks North America.

Paul L. Vikner has been named to succeed Gigou as Mack's president and CEO.

“We will have two very competent, highly motivated people with broad experience of the American truck industry taking charge of our demanding operations in North America,” said Tryggve Sthen, president and CEO of parent operation Volvo Truck Corp. “This will be to the benefit of our customers, our dealers and our employees.”

Gigou had been president and CEO of Mack Trucks since 1996. Prior to that, he held various management positions in sales and aftermarket operations for Renault in France, Sweden and the United Kingdom, including five years as managing director of Renault UK.

Mack named Vikner a senior vp-sales and a member of the management team in 1995. A year later, he was appointed executive vp-sales and marketing, where he worked closely with Gigou. Vikner began his career at Mack and was in management positions until leaving in 1979. He then held management positions with Iveco Truck of America, Isuzu Truck of America and American Isuzu Motors before returning to Mack.
