Fleetguard Inc. has released the Environmental Solutions Worldwide (ESW) Particulate Reactor— a direct replacement for a muffler that it says “reduces particulate matter (PM) by at least 50%.”

The Particulate Reactor uses a catalyzed tortured path wire mesh substrate to reduce PMs. It is the first product of its kind to be verified as a complete CARB (California Air Resources Board) Level 2 diesel retrofit replacement, the manufacturer said.

“With at least 50% particulate matter reduction, the Particulate Reactor fills the gap nicely between a diesel oxidation catalyst and a diesel particulate filter,” said Mike Cross, Fleetguard vp of exhaust. “The Particulate Reactor requires a monitor, but no ongoing maintenance is required, so it is ideal for reducing service time and cost.”
