Haldex Brake Systems has introduced its next generation of trailer ABS, adding power line carrier (PLC) technology to accommodate an in-cab warning light for the trailer brake system.
The company says it will combine its three current ABS electronic control units (ECU) into a single PLC ECU. The new control unit features an electronic odometer function, data storage for vehicle and maintenance information, and blink-code diagnostics, as well as options for remote communications and Windows-based diagnostics.
Haldex will also offer an upgraded version, PLC Plus ECU, that will allow drivers to control or monitor auxiliary sensors and systems in the trailer from the cab of a tractor using PLC. Applications for the PLC system include lift axle control and monitoring of lining wear sensors, cargo temperatures and door openings.
