Kraft Foods will shift its truck operations to contract carriers and shut down its high-visibility private fleet, according to a report in the New Ulm Journal.  With 285 employees in ten locations, the Kraft private fleet currently provides service between company plants and distribution centers. The phased shutdown will start this summer as Kraft begins using for-hire carriers with established "strategic partnerships," the NU Journal story reported.

"This is not a reflection on the work of our fleet," said [company spokesperson Joyce] Hodel. "They have provided outstanding service to the company and our customers."
