Drivewyze by Fleetworthy appoints Tom Kelly as director of commercial vehicle compliance solutions

Drivewyze by Fleetworthy has hired Tom Kelly as its new director of commercial vehicle compliance solutions. In this position, Kelly will be key in supporting Department of Transportation and commercial vehicle enforcement agencies with Drivewyze’s smart infrastructure and software solutions.

Kelly brings commercial transportation compliance and law enforcement experience to Drivewyze, following a nearly 20-year career with the Federal Motor Carrier Administration. Prior to his appointment  with FMCSA, Kelly held an elected role with the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance after serving more than two decades of serving in the Maine State Police.

“I’m excited to continue my commercial vehicle safety career by joining a team of innovative professionals at Drivewyze who share my goal of leveraging technology toward commercial vehicle compliance and efficiency solutions,” Kelly said. “I look forward to engaging with my new colleagues and our community of stakeholders in shaping the future of technology in CMV operations throughout North America.”

Denis Güven will become the new CEO and president of Mercedes-Benz do Brasil and Latin America

Denis Güven, currently head of product and strategy at Daimler Truck Asia will become the new head of Mercedes-Benz do Brasil, responsible for the Latin America region of Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Buses, with a planned start date in August 2025. He will succeed Achim Puchert, who became a member of the board of management of Daimler Truck AG as CEO of Mercedes-Benz Trucks on December 1, 2024.

“Denis Güven is a reflected and modern leader, passionate to drive change,” Puchert said. “He is an internationally experienced manager who places great importance on empowerment in shaping strong diverse teams with a clear focus on customers. He has demonstrated his strategic skills, especially on the product side, throughout his career and most recently in his role as head of product and strategy at Daimler Truck Asia. I’ve known Denis for many years and look forward to continuing working with him in his new responsibility.”

In 2010, Denis Güven began his career as project manager R&D for medium-duty engines at former Daimler AG, in Stuttgart, Germany. He became assistant to the VP of sales, marketing, and customer service at Mercedes-Benz Trucks in Stuttgart in 2016. In early 2019, he joined Daimler Truck Asia as the head of international sales and order management in Kawasaki, Japan, followed by the assignment as the head of sales and marketing in October 2021. In July 2022, he took over as director and head of product and strategy at Daimler Truck Asia.

Southeastern Freight Lines promotes Matt Smith to service center manager  

Southeastern Freight Lines recently promoted Matt Smith to service center manager in Louisville, Kentucky.

Smith began his career at the Atlanta service center in Georgia as an inbound dock supervisor. He has served in various leadership positions with the company, including inbound operations manager, pickup and delivery operations manager, and, most recently, assistant service center manager at the Atlanta breakbulk facility in Georgia.

“Over the years, Matt has consistently demonstrated his dedication to excellence and his efforts to enhance Southeastern’s culture,” Jason Hood, regional VP of operations for Southeastern Freight Lines, said. “He is widely recognized as a steadfast leader who cultivates a positive environment and has a heart for serving others. I am confident he will continue to lead with integrity and passion, driving even greater success for our Louisville service center.”
