Con-way Multimodal, a division of Con-way Inc’s Menlo Worldwide Logistics operating unit, has opened a new location in Bentonville, AR.

This is the fourth U.S. location for the company, with the others in Ann Arbor, MI; Portland, OR; and Aurora, IL. Con-way Multimodal arranges third-party carrier services.

The 1,600-sq.-ft. office currently employs one manager and three employees. Plans call for 12 to 15 employees in the office by the end of 2012, the company said.

“Establishing a presence in Bentonville aligns perfectly with our growth goals as a company, allowing us to build and expand relationships with strategic customers and their suppliers,” said Tommy Barnes, president, Con-way Multimodal. “This location provides access to graduates of the University of Arkansas, which offers one of the most prestigious logistics programs in the country, and brokers with greater experience in both flatbed and refrigerated — two transportation modes we’re looking to build and expand. Overall, there are more brokerage companies in Northwest Arkansas than in many larger regions — it was critical for us to gain visibility there. ”
