Utility Trailer Manufacturing Co. has announced that its Marion, VA, manufacturing facility has achieved over 2 million hours without a single lost-time accident. The company pointed out that each of its plants has a fully staffed Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Dept. that has “helped Utility take a proactive approach” in implementing strict safety practices that “go beyond” standard compliance with regulations.

“This accomplishment of 2 million hours without a lost-time accident is the result of the effort of every employee being cognizant of their own personal well-being every day,” said EHS manager Dan Potts.

“Without the outstanding safety education and training resources offered by Utility as well as the great work ethic of our committed employees, we would have not been able to achieve such an important milestone,” added plant manager Brad Starkey.

Utility currently operates five trailer manufacturing facilities in the U.S. In addition to the Marion location, the Clearfield, UT, plant manufactures Utility’s refrigerated trailers. Utility dry vans are manufactured in Glade Spring, VA, and Paragould, AR. Utility also has a facility in Enterprise, AL, that manufactures flatbeds and Tautliners.

Over the past few years, the company noted, it has nearly tripled its EHS personnel for each of its manufacturing facilities - and all have achieved reductions in accident rates.
