Navistar International Corp. and Iveco Trucks Australia Limited have reached agreement to end their joint marketing agreement, effective October 9, 2010.

Under terms of that agreement, Iveco markets and offers technical assistance for Navistar’s International brand trucks in Australia.

A separate agreement will allow Iveco to continue to supply parts, service and support for International-brand trucks for seven years. Iveco will also continue to sell its inventory of International trucks through approximately June 2011.

“This amicable agreement preserves continued service for International brand trucks in Australia,” said Phil Christman, president, Navistar global truck operations. “We look forward to continuing to provide our Australian customers with new truck models via the dealer network being established by NC2.”

NC2 is the joint global truck organization formed between Navistar and Caterpillar. Headquartered in Chicago, the company will develop, manufacture and distribute commercial trucks globally, focusing initial efforts on Australia, Brazil, China, Russia, South Africa and Turkey. The product line will include conventional and cabover trucks, which be sold under with both Cat and International nameplates, Navistar said.

“Iveco is pleased to continue its relationship with Navistar as an authorized provider of parts, service and support for International trucks, for the long term,” said Giorgio Gallia, Iveco managing director. “Current International truck buyers can be assured of receiving excellent ongoing support for the current range of International trucks produced in Australia.”

Iveco will continue to sell a full line of its own Iveco-branded trucks in Australia as well, including its heavy-duty Stalis and Powerstar and its medium-duty Acco and Eurocargo models.
