Survey: More fleets plan to buy truck next year

More fleets are planning on purchasing Class 8 and medium-duty trucks in 2011 than in 2010, according to the latest annual fleet study conducted by CK Commercial Vehicle Research. More fleets are planning on purchasing Class 8 and medium-duty trucks in 2011 than in 2010, according to the latest annual fleet study conducted by CK Commercial Vehicle Research. The study shows a 47% increase in the number of fleets who plan new Class 8 and medium-duty power unit purchases in 2011 vs. those that planned orders for 2010.

“The strongest demand comes for Class 8 units,” said Chris Kemmer of CKCVR, who added that “88% of the power units planned by this group for 2011 are for Class 8 vehicles.”

The annual survey also information from respondents about their equipment brand and 2010 emission engine technology preferences, new specifications, maintenance sourcing and their overall view of industry manufacturers.
