Specialty trailer maker Kentucky Trailer plans to relocate the production arm of its division, Kentucky Trailer Technologies – which it acquired in July of 2002 – to its main corporate campus in Louisville. This will be done over the next six months in an effort to improve manufacturing efficiencies.
“It only makes sense for us to bring all operations under one roof,” said Larry Hartog, president of Kentucky Trailer. “This will allow us to more competitively position and market our brand of custom trailers. The trailer shells are currently produced in Kentucky, so bringing Kentucky Trailer Technologies’ capabilities to Louisville streamlines the process, and allows us to maximize efficiencies. Strategically, this is simply the next step in our long-range planning for the company.”
Kentucky Trailer builds trailers for both moving companies and freight haulers, including Allied Van Lines, Atlas, Worldwide, Frito-Lay, FedEx Ground and UPS. Meanwhile, Kentucky Trailer Technologies focuses on the custom trailer market, building units for auto transporters, mobile exhibits, and the U.S. Army.
