Con-way Inc. has hired Stephen Krull to be executive vp, general counsel and secretary, succeeding Jennifer Pileggi as Con-way's executive vp and chief legal counsel.

The company said that with the closure of its San Mateo, CA, headquarters and relocation of its functions to Ann Arbor, MI, Pileggi elected to conclude her career with the company and remain on the West Coast. She continues for an interim period in an advisory capacity to ensure effective transition of general counsel duties.

As Con-way's chief attorney, Krull assumes responsibility for management of the company's legal staff, external legal resources, securities law compliance, corporate governance, ethics and compliance matters, financial transactions and general corporate legal matters. He also serves as the company's Chief Privacy Officer and is a member of the executive management team.

Krull, 46, joins Con-way after a 15-year career Owens Corning, where he most recently served as senior vp, general counsel and secretary.
