As Canada gets set to enforce its e-manifest program for carriers and shippers crossing into the U.S., many of those affected will be looking for software programs to assist in the meeting the requirements.

eCustoms is offering a service it said will meet the requirements of any fleet moving goods across the border. The company’s Visual Gateway Suite is a collection of web-based solutions designed to assist importers, carriers, and customs brokers in meeting the e-manifest requirements.

“We are right at the cutting edge of the Canadian Border Services Agency’s (CBSA) highway plans. Our aim is to help highway carriers of all sizes to be able to comply with these mandatory regulations within the implementation time,” said Jackson Wood, corporate business manager at eCustoms. “More importantly it means that carriers can submit all the relevant information to customs within the required time period to ensure their trucks cross the border as quickly and effectively as possible.”

CBSA is requiring any truck arriving at the border for crossing to supply an electronic manifest one hour prior to arrival. The program is set to kick off this month with no penalties for non-compliance. However, over the next 18 months, the e-manifest program will be ramped up and at the conclusion of the 18-month introductory period, compliance will be mandatory.

Visual Gateway enables carriers to validate and electronically submit shipments and trips to customs prior to their truck arriving at the border. It offers easy to use, feature-rich, reliable, cost-effective solutions that help carriers, brokers or freight forwarders comply with U.S. and Canadian e-Manifest requirements, eCustoms said.
