ampCNG, a provider of compressed natural gas (CNG) infrastructure and fueling solutions for the heavy-duty commercial trucking industry, announced that it now owns 100% of the 17 public access CNG fueling stations that were part of the joint venture between ampCNG and Trillium CNG. All 17 stations will now operate under the name of ampCNG.The company also announced that Grant Zimmerman has been appointed chief executive officer. Zimmerman assumes the role from ampCNG co-founder Nate Laurell who will continue in his role as executive chairman of the board, the company said. According to the company, ampCNG’s network CNG fueling stations are located across the U.S. on heavily traveled highway corridors, supporting some of the largest CNG fleets in the country with partners in the food and beverage, agriculture and dairy industries. ampCNG along with its parent company, AMP Americas, currently operates stations in Texas, in the Midwest (Indiana and Ohio), and in the Southeast (Florida, Georgia, Arkansas, North Carolina and Tennessee). New station projects are under development to expand ampCNG’s footprint in Texas, Georgia, Illinois, Tennessee and California.“This transaction further strengthens our commitment to advancing CNG fueling infrastructure throughout the country and to helping make the transition to CNG as easy as possible for heavy-duty trucking fleets,” said Zimmerman. “The collaboration with Trillium CNG enabled us to successfully grow our network of CNG stations, and we look forward to working together in our new independent capacities.” Zimmerman joined ampCNG in February 2015 as senior vice-president of business development. Prior to ampCNG, Zimmerman was an associate principal at McKinsey & Company’s energy consulting practice. Before McKinsey, Zimmerman worked at Enron in a variety of commercial and finance roles. “Over the past year Grant has played an integral part in helping us bring six new CNG stations into action,” said Laurell. “His intensity and proven experience creating and sustaining growth in the energy sector make him the right person to lead ampCNG as we build on our achievements to offer even more natural gas fueling solutions.”
