Conversion Interactive Agency (ConversionIA) has been named a 2021 Top Woman-Owned Business by the Women In Trucking Association (WIT). The honor comes shortly after the agency was named a Top Workplace in the Middle Tennessee area by The Tennessean.
“I am delighted to share this recognition with incredible women in the trucking industry,” Kelley Walkup, president and CEO of ConversionIA, said. “Being named a Top Woman-Owned Business in the transportation industry is an honor. My partner and I have been dedicated to giving women opportunities in this industry for years.”
The agency was purchased by Walkup and her partner, Joanne Hazelwood, in 2015. As leaders in the trucking industry, Walkup and Hazelwood work to bring equality and opportunity to females in the driver recruiting sector, employing 67% female talent.
“To be named along with other prestigious women-owned businesses is a fantastic win for Conversion,” said Hazelwood. “When we began this venture, we made it a point to bring strong female leaders to our industry. This honor means we are achieving those goals.”
Although the female driving pool remains significantly lower than male, Walkup and Hazelwood hope to see that number rise in the coming years by helping carriers of all sizes build female recruiting strategies.
“As women continue to increase their numbers in transportation, recognizing those who are growing their businesses and attracting the best talent is part of our mission,” said Ellen Voie, president and CEO, of WIT. “The Top Woman-Owned Businesses are those who embrace diversity while promoting women in leadership roles. We applaud their efforts and the success they have achieved.”
