Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire, LLC (BFNT) hosted two specialists from the Environmental Protection Agency during a recent tour of the company's truck tire plant in Warren County, Tennessee. The event was part of Bridgestone Firestone's partnership in the EPA SmartWay Transport program, a new long-term initiative to reduce emissions and increase trucking industry fuel efficiency. The visit proved an opportunity for EPA officials to learn first-hand about the engineering, innovation, and complexity of the modern truck tire. Visiting the Warren plant were Anthony Erb, environmental scientist from the Office of Transportation & Air Quality, and Cheryl Bynum, policy analyst from the Office of Transportation & Air Quality. Both work on ERA'S SmartWay Transport Partnership program.

The tour was led by Greer Tidwell, director, environmental management for BFNT; Guy Walenga, engineering manager, North American Commercial Products; and Sean Fisher, senior environmental engineer for the Warren plant.
