Trimble's subsidiary, Trimble Mobile Solutions Inc (TMS), has signed a memorandum of understanding to form a distribution alliance with AmeriQuest Transportation and Logistics Resources Corp. The companies will offer low-cost asset tracking and security systems using Trimble's TrimTrac locator. The TrimTrac locator, based on Global Positioning System (GPS) and cellular communications, is a palm-size, battery-operated device that enables fleet operators to locate cargo, trailers, heavy equipment, and other assets via the Internet.

TMS and AmeriQuest intend to offer multiple service plans designed to enable asset management for various fleet and transportation organizations. The system is expected to be available in the second quarter of 2005.
