Emmpak Foods issues ground beef recall

Emmpak Foods Inc is voluntarily recalling about 123,000 pounds of ground beef produced in Milwaukee WI as a precautionary measure because of concerns of potential contamination by hydraulic fluid.

Emmpak Foods Inc is voluntarily recalling about 123,000 pounds of ground beef produced in Milwaukee WI as a precautionary measure because of concerns of potential contamination by hydraulic fluid.

The 1-lb packages display the establishment number “EST 20654” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

All but about 22,000 pounds of the product were shipped to retail distributors in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana. The packages carry sell-by dates of Jan 31, Feb 1, and Feb 2. The products include SIRLOIN GROUND BEEF, WITH NATURAL FLAVORINGS, 90/10; LEAN GROUND BEEF, WITH NATURAL FLAVORINGS, 93/7; EXTRA LEAN GROUND BEEF, WITH NATURAL FLAVORINGS, 96/4; GROUND BEEF, WITH NATURAL FLAVORINGS, 73/27; CHUCK GROUND BEEF, WITH NATURAL FLAVORINGS, 80/20; ROUND GROUND BEEF, WITH NATURAL FLAVORINGS, 85/15; and FRESH GROUND BEEF FOR CHILI, WITH NATURAL FLAVORINGS, 85/15.

Also displaying the establishment number “EST 20654” inside the USDA mark of inspection, the remaining 22,000 pounds were distributed to retail distributors in Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina. The 1-lb packages carry a sell-by date of Feb 1 and were LAURA’S LEAN BEEF, GROUND BEEF, 8% FAT and LAURA’S LEAN BEEF, GROUND ROUND, 4% FAT.

Consumers who purchased products affected by the recall can return it to the point of purchase for a refund. Emmpak has established a consumer hotline of 866-567-7899.
