For the past month, many readers of Refrigerated Transporter have noticed something different in their e-mail early every week. It is called Refrigerated Transporter Business Picture, a snapshot of refrigerated transportation and logistics. Launched in August 2001, this new e-mail newsletter is a weekly update of news and trends in the industry.

Early editions of the newsletter alerted subscribers to items soon to run in Refrigerated Transporter. Such examples include the presentation on the used truck market by Kirk Mann from the TCA Refrigerated Division annual meeting and preliminary results of Refrigerated Transporter's Gross Revenue Report. The full texts of both items are in this issue. Mann's analysis of the used truck and trailer market appears on pages 36 to 38. The Gross Revenue Report begins on page 24.

In addition, the newsletter has kept up a running account of news from heavy truck manufacturers, in particular, noting production decreases or increases. It also has reported quarterly financial results from publicly held motor carriers and food distributors. News and upcoming events sponsored by industry associations such as the Truckload Carriers Association and Food Distributors International have been reported as well. Developments in the drive to admit motor carriers from Mexico to the US under the terms of the North American Free Trade Agreement have been a constant topic in the newsletter.

RT Business Picture is available to all readers of the magazine. The initial mailing list was compiled from e-mail addresses taken from circulation request cards received by Refrigerated Transporter.

Magazine subscribers do not have to fill out a new circulation card to be placed on the mailing list for RT Business Picture. The web address to subscribe is http://www.we0.net/Intertec/rd.asp?id=*2DQ-224-CN-1C2. If readers do not want to continue receiving the e-mail newsletter, circulation can be discontinued by going to http://www.we0.net/Intertec/rd.asp?id=*2DQ-224-CN-1BX.

RT Business Picture is just one of a whole group of e-mail newsletters recently launched by PRIMEDIA Business Magazines & Media. Other e-mail newsletters relating to transportation and logistics are published by Fleet Owner, Modern Bulk Transporter, and Trailer/Body Builders magazines. Links to these magazines can be found on the Refrigerated Transporter web site at www.refrigeratedtrans.com.
