Landstar Officer Chosen As IT Leader for 2001

Landstar System Inc has announced that Patrick Wise, vice-president of e-commerce, has been named one of Computerworld's Premier 100 IT Leaders for 2001.

Landstar System Inc has announced that Patrick Wise, vice-president of e-commerce, has been named one of Computerworld's Premier 100 IT Leaders for 2001. For more than three years, Wise has worked to ensure Landstar's internal and external applications are Web-enabled. He was instrumental in the company's business-to-business application of wireless Internet phone service in North America. The wireless system enables Landstar's 7,300 business capacity owners to use cell phones and other Internet-ready wireless devices to choose available freight from the company's web site.

Wise joined Landstar in 1997 as vice-president of information services after 25 years in the financial services sector. He served on the board of directors of an Illinois ATM network and was instrumental in conversion of one of Chicago's largest check processing systems to electronic presentment.
