The first Innovision Technology Awards program Hall of Fame Award was presented to Greenville SC-based Michelin North America at the fourth annual Innovision Technology Awards program banquet recently.
Founded in 1999 by Deloitte & Touche, the Innovision Technology Awards program is dedicated to advancement of technology in the South Carolina upstate region through communication, education, and recognition of innovation and technological progress.
One of Michelin's entries in this year's competition was the Michelin X One wide single commercial truck tire in the Technology Application category.
The X One provides a cost-effective, fuel-efficient alternative to traditional dual tires used in the heavy-duty trucking industry and mass transit. It replaces dual tire sets with just one tire on tandem-axle tractors and trailers. The X One tire has proven to save as much as 10% in fuel cost and increase payload by nearly 1,000 pounds, according to Michelin.
