This LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design)-certified facility will feature 132,000 square feet of frozen storage space, 65,000 square feet dedicated to onsite food processing, and eight blast cells with the capacity to blast freeze up to one million pounds per day. The Santa Maria site will also offer rail access and in-house transportation services to local and national markets. With 30,000 additional pallet positions, the facility will play a major role in meeting the needs of the Santa Maria region.
“The Santa Maria project is another example of our commitment to our customers and their needs,” said Bill Hendricksen, chief executive officer of Lineage. “We are proud to add a Lineage facility in a region where our fruit and vegetable customers need capacity to grow their businesses.”
Lineage owns and operates a number of other facilities in the region, including facilities in Oxnard and Watsonville CA.
This development will be completed with the strong support of the local government and community in Santa Maria. When fully operational, the facility is expected to provide up to 28 permanent and 250 seasonal new jobs in the area.
