Werner celebrates cross-dock facility at Laredo TX terminal
Werner Enterprises recently celebrated the grand opening of a new cross-dock facility at its Laredo TX terminal.
The 17,500-square-foot facility features 13 dry docks and eight refrigerated docks, making Werner the only US carrier servicing Mexico with a refrigerated cross-dock, the company said.
“We are proud to enhance our services and continue leading the industry as the largest cross-border transportation provider to and from Mexico,” said Derek Leathers, Werner president and chief executive officer. “The new cross-dock facility will enable our customers and more than 25,000 alliance carriers to increase their supply chain velocity while reducing their trans-loading and warehousing costs often involved when shipping cross-border.”
The state-of-the-art cross-dock facility features a stable temperature-controlled environment utilizing a redundant cooling system to provide the cold chain compliance needed for climate-controlled customers. The Laredo facility offers the visibility and security required for C-TPAT certification. With the expansion of its terminal and logistics offering, Werner said Laredo will continue to serve as its primary cross-border gateway to and from Mexico.
Throughout 2019, Werner is celebrating the 20-year anniversary of its Mexico-based operations. Werner entered Mexico’s transportation and logistics market in 1999 when Werner Mexico was formed, and border crossings began in Laredo. Throughout the last 20 years, Werner Mexico has continually expanded its dry van, temperature-controlled, intermodal, brokerage and international transportation services.
