Choptank adding new facility

Jan. 29, 2020
Expansion into Easton MD part of five-year plan to add 300 employees between locations across US, company says

Choptank Transport, a full-service logistics provider headquartered in Preston MD, recently agreed to purchase a new facility in neighboring Easton to supplement its existing office space in Preston.

The nationwide freight management company said the expansion is part of its plan to grow from nearly 400 employees to more than 700 in the next five years. Choptank provides more than 280 jobs at its Caroline County campus, and continues to thrive and grow in the home community from which it was founded.

Choptank maintained the decision to add another facility locally is a result of operating at near capacity in Preston. The new building will house 150-plus employees, with 20,000 square feet of office space for sales and operations departments.

“Third-party logistics is a technology-driven industry that is growing fast and changing quickly,” said Geoff Turner, president and CEO. “Our expansion in Easton, Maryland will allow us to recruit additional talent that will serve our customer base.

“Our industry is demanding, fast-paced and an excellent opportunity for those interested in launching a successful sales career.”

The location of the new space under contract is 8338 Elliott Road, situated on the corner of Matthewstown and Elliott Roads in a building previously known as the Rio Del Mar building. Rio Del Mar is moving to a nearby location, Choptank said.

Choptank is hiring now for its Preston office as well as all of its regional locations across the United States, including Baltimore, Tampa, Denver, Dallas and Atlanta.
