Kenworth Truck Company has received an order for 1,000 aerodynamic Kenworth T680s with Paccar MX engines from TransAm Trucking, a refrigerated transporter based in Olathe KS. The T680 was introduced at the 2012 Mid-America Trucking Show recently.
“This order is an excellent way to launch Kenworth’s most aerodynamic truck ever,” said Gary Moore, Kenworth general manager and Paccar vice-president. “TransAm was also instrumental in our Paccar MX launch in 2010, when they purchased 1,000 MX-powered Kenworth trucks. We are pleased to see TransAm’s strong commitment to the new Kenworth T680 and the Paccar MX.”
“The new Kenworth T680 is a very impressive truck,” said Russ McElliott, president of TransAm. “We especially like the T680’s fuel efficiency, visibility, and new dash and sleeper layout. We also have confidence in the Paccar MX engine. Our relationship with Kenworth and MHC is important to us, and we look forward to excellent results from the T680 and Paccar MX combination.”
TransAm currently operates 500 Kenworth aerodynamic T660s and T700s equipped with 485-horsepower Paccar MX engines. The carrier specified its T680s with the new Kenworth 76-inch sleeper and Paccar MX engine rated at 485-hp and 1,650 lb-ft of torque.
More than 20,000 trucks serving various customer applications in North America are equipped with the Paccar MX engine. The engine is provided with a horsepower range of 380 to 485 hp and torque up to 1,750 lb-ft on select Kenworth Class 8 models.
