Total Quality Logistics (TQL) employees recently reached into their pockets during the company’s annual internal United Way campaign and raised $198,089 for the charity.
Company employee participation reached 73% this year. TQL inspired employee giving in this tough economy by matching 50 cents for every dollar of individual donations, as well as sponsoring prizes and luncheons for competitions between departments.
“We are happy to mobilize our team on behalf of the United Way,” said Kerry Byrne, TQL executive vice-president. “Over the past five years, TQL has donated $828,882 to this great organization, and we will continue to support United Way’s efforts as we expand into new cities across the United States.”
The United Way focuses on funding education, income, and health initiatives. It partners with local chapters of non-profit organizations to accomplish its mission, including Big Brothers Big Sisters, YWCA and YMCA, the American Heart Association, and Boy and Girl Scouts of America. United Way of Greater Cincinnati holds its annual fundraising campaign August through December.
United Way is just one of many community initiatives TQL and its employees support through its TQL Cares program, an employee-driven community service committee. So far in 2011, employees have volunteered more than 500 hours and donated to various charities including the Ronald McDonald House, Susan G Komen for the Cure, American Heart Association, and March of Dimes.
