Third-party logistics company C H Robinson Worldwide Inc acquired certain assets of International Trade & Commerce Inc (ITC), a US customs brokerage headquartered in Laredo TX.
Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
ITC provides a range of services facilitating international customs brokerage needs across all modes of transportation. Established in 1989 by Hector Tafoya, ITC primarily works with customers in the United States and Mexico. Tafoya has more than 20 years in the industry and will continue with the company as C H Robinson’s general director of the United States and Mexico Border Operations Center.
“ITC strengthens our ability to provide customers a seamless cross-border service package across the United States and Mexico border,” said Scott Satterlee, C H Robinson senior vice-president. “Customers increasingly want a single point of contact to provide visibility and consolidated invoicing in order to achieve optimal efficiency with their transportation spend. ITC greatly enhances our ability to meet those needs.”
Outside of its primary location in Laredo, ITC is engaged in customs activities in many other United States sea, air, and land ports. They are C-TPAT-certified and a Border Anti-Smuggling Coalition member. C H Robinson will continue to operate out of ITC’s 55,000-square-foot warehouse and distribution center in Laredo.
C H Robinson has been providing transportation services in Mexico and along the border for more than 20 years. Currently, the company has 10 offices along the United States and Mexico border with 100-plus employees dedicated to those local markets. Offices in Mexico include Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey, and Nuevo Laredo.
