Members of the International Foodservice Distributors Association elected new officers and directors to the IFDA board of directors and re-elected several directors. Elected to two-year terms as IFDA board of director officers were John Martin, chief executive officer of Martin Brothers Distributing Company Inc., chosen IFDA chairman; Malcolm Sullivan, CEO of Pate Dawson Company, vice chairman; and James Kite Jr., president of Ellenbee-Leggett Company Inc., treasurer. Elected to three-year terms as directors were Kite; Karen Bressler, president and CEO of AGAR Supply Company; William Barulich, CEO of BiRite Foodservice Distributors; Thomas Henning, president and CEO of Cash-Wa Distributing Company; Terance Walsh, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Maines Paper & Foodservice Inc.; Thomas Zatina, president of McLane Foodservice Distribution; Peter Mouskondis, president and COO of Nicholas & Company Inc.; Steven Spinner, president and CEO of Performance Food Group; Roger Toomey, president and CEO of UniPro Foodservice Inc.; and Robert Aiken, CEO of US Foodservice Inc.
Dan Gordon, president and chief executive officer of Gordon Food Service, was honored with the International Foodservice Distributors Association (IFDA) Cornerstone Award at the group's recent Partners Executive Forum. The award is presented annually to an IFDA member who has shown outstanding industry leadership, support, and service and has played an integral role in leading the association.
The American Trucking Associations honored Bob Halladay with the S. Earl Dove Highway Award — ATA's highest honor — for his dedication to the trucking industry. He began his trucking career in 1952 as managing director of the Kansas Motor Carriers Association. He later served as chairman of the Midwest Trucking Associations, first chairman of the ATA Reciprocity Committee, and the first elected chairman of ATA's Trucking Association Executives Council. Halladay also served as ATA's director of interstate cooperation and wrote The Story of the American Trucking Associations. He was ATA's senior vice president of federation relations and president of Transport Topics Publishing when he retired in 1990.
