National Truck Driver Appreciation Week (NTDAW) was recently observed as a way to say “thank you” to the nation’s truck drivers. Choptank Transport decided to honor these drivers during NTDAW (September 11-17) by setting up a celebratory tent at the 301 Plaza truckstop in Middletown DE.
Each driver that stopped by was given a Choptank Transport gift bag full of freebies donated from companies such as: Carolina Foods, Maryland Motor Truck Association, National Association of Small Trucking Companies, Herr Foods, Avalon Risk Management, McLeod Software, Internet Truckstop, and several other vendors. Mugs, USB flash drives, backpacks, cooler bags, flashlight key chains, hats, notepads, and pens were some of the items given out.
Many of the drivers were in disbelief that they were receiving something for nothing. “We usually only get rude gestures or dirty looks on the road,” said one driver. “No one seems to appreciate what we do. This is really nice.”
