Brown Line LLC, a refrigerated motor carrier based in the Pacific Northwest, has expanded its national network by acquiring the operations of Port Side Trucking Inc, a refrigerated trucking company based in Kent WA. The acquisition is expected to be completed March 31.
Offering temperature-controlled, less-than-truckload (LTL) specialized service along the West Coast. Brown Line provides scheduled service to San Francisco CA, Los Angeles CA, Phoenix AZ, San Diego CA, Chicago IL, Boston MA, and Minneapolis MN from the Puget Sound area and southern British Columbia. Port Side Trucking provides service from the Pacific Northwest to Boise, Salt Lake City UT, Denver CO, and Portland OR.
Adding the routes from Port Side to Brown Line’s service area will benefit both companies and provide a seamless refrigerated delivery network.
“Port Side serves markets that complement our existing services and allows us to offer customers a true one-stop-shop for shipping all temperature-controlled commodities,” said Jason Jansen, president of Brown Line. “Brown Line’s specialty is shipping seafood and other delicate freight. Now we can offer customers additional delivery areas and a variety of choices in shipping fresh, frozen, and non-refrigerated freight. We are now positioned to serve the West Coast, Midwest, Northeast, and British Columbia with the fastest door-to-door service available.”
Earlier this year, Brown Line joined the SmartWay Transport Partnership, collaboration between the US Environmental Protection Agency and transportation companies to voluntarily improve fuel efficiency and reduce air pollution from freight transport. Brown Line is also upgrading its equipment in 2011 with more efficient tractors and trailers.
Brown Line is part of the Lynden family of companies.
