Dot Transportation Inc (DTI) presented heavy- and medium-duty truck dealer Central Illinois Trucks Inc (CIT) and Volvo the 2012 Vendor of the Year Award at its 2013 vendor golf outing recently.
This is the fourth time since the award’s creation in 2000 that CIT as a dealer group has won it, and the second time Volvo has received the honor. The award recognizes product quality and reliability, outstanding service to DTI, and strong knowledge of Dot operations while providing solutions.
“Central Illinois Trucks has been an outstanding partner for DTI while providing us with high-quality Volvo tractors,” said Kevin Buss, director of fleet maintenance at Dot. “From the initial order, through regular maintenance and support, CIT and Volvo are always on top of any questions we have along with support needed.”
Dot Transportation determines the winner through a variety of metrics and a scorecard system that rates vendors 1-5 in areas such as products, service, and reliability. Results are tracked from year-to-year and used with other variables to determine the Vendor of the Year.
“The decision for Vendor of the Year weighs predominantly on ratings from the scorecard,” Buss said of how the scorecard system plays in the award. “They scored great this year—and it shows.”
Dot’s golf outing consists of approximately 30 vendors who are invited each year for lunch, a business update, awards presentation, a day of golfing, and dinner.
CIT Group Inc was founded and incorporated in 1975 as Central Illinois Kenworth Sales and Service Inc. The Normal IL-based company has grown to 15 locations and employs approximately 450 people.
