QuikQ, provider of a cardless direct fuel connection between truckstop point-of-sale (POS) and motor carrier enterprise systems, has announced its new QuikQ Q-Gate technology.
The new software detects and validates vehicle-mounted RFID tags and engages existing gate opening systems. This prevents an unauthorized vehicle from entering a secure location and can reduce the risk of picking up the wrong trailer before exiting a facility.
“Q-Gate enhances yard security for trucking operations,” said Ernie Betancourt, president of QuikQ. “With QuikQ Q-Gate, RFID tags installed on trucks or trailers identify equipment entering or leaving an unattended site. When Q-Gate is integrated with a dispatch system, it can match units before opening a gate, eliminating the possibility of the wrong trailer leaving a yard or a trailer heading in the wrong direction. This new offering allows fleets to add to the capability of their facility security.”
Q-Gate employs the same RFID technology used in QuikQ’s fueling system at truckstops. The solution can be customized to open and close individual gates based on pre-determined days and times. The Q-Gate application also tracks and records entries and exits from gated sites, and provides alerts if units and trailers do not match loads or if RFID tags are damaged or inactive.
QuikQ creates and develops fuel transaction processing solutions for motor carriers and truckstops. Its Fuel Purchasing System (FPS) is the first fuel transaction software designed to manage the entire fuel transaction through real-time direct “carrier to truckstop” connectivity. This RFID-based fueling system is being installed at truckstops nationwide and is being adopted by a growing number of motor carriers.
