Werner Enterprises (NASDAQ: WERN), a transportation and logistics provider nationally recognized for its support of our country’s military veterans, will host The Wall That Heals at its global headquarters May 7–10, 2015, as it makes an historic stop in Omaha NE.
The Wall That Heals is a half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington DC that is being transported by Navy veteran and professional Werner driver Immanuel Odongkara and his military-themed Freedom 3 truck on its journey from San Diego CA to Northville MI.
This 250-foot long memorial wall, which bears the 58,300 names of those killed or missing in action from the conflict in Vietnam, will arrive escorted by a motorcade of veterans and local law enforcement at Werner’s 14507 Frontier Road campus May 6. Werner will host an opening ceremony May 7 at 10 am that will include comments from Derek Leathers, Werner president and chief operating officer. The wall will be on display to the public 24 hours a day through May 10 at 5 pm. Friends and family members of those whose names are on the wall are encouraged to bring a photo to the exhibit to be scanned and included in the display’s digital archive.
As a military-friendly employer, Werner has hired more than 5,400 veterans in the past three years, surpassing the pledge it made in 2012 under the White House campaign Joining Forces to hire 1,000 veterans per year for the next five years. Werner has pledged to hire 2,200 veterans and 200 veteran spouses in 2015. It further strives to support military veterans with its military-themed Operation Freedom fleet that travels on regular freight routes in addition to being showcased at truck shows, recruiting events, and specific veteran ceremonies.
Founded in 1956, Werner maintains its global headquarters in Omaha and offices in the United States, Canada, Mexico, China, and Australia. Its transportation services include temperature-controlled, dedicated van, and flatbed; medium-to-long-haul, regional, and local van; and expedited services. Werner’s Value Added Services portfolio includes freight management, truck brokerage, intermodal, and international services. International services are provided through subsidiary companies and include ocean, air and ground transportation; freight forwarding; and customs brokerage.
