Logistics management company Mark-it Express has been named to Crain’s 2016 Chicago Fast 50 list. Crain’s list recognizes Chicago IL-based businesses, both public and private, that sustained remarkable and verifiable revenue gains over a five-year period. Mark-it Express is one of only four transportation companies named to the 2016 Chicago Fast 50.
The company was founded in 2009 as a third-party logistics operation by Tony Apa and Justin Nelson, two highly respected and experienced transportation and supply chain management professionals.
“We are honored to be recognized as one of the Crain Chicago Fast 50 companies. This achievement is attributable to the performance of our outstanding team,” said Apa, president of Mark-it Express.
“When we opened Mark-it Express, our goal was to build our company by forging solid customer relationships as valued consultants supported by reputable, multi-level partners,” he said. “To achieve this service level, we invested in seasoned sales and operations professionals who were exceptional problem-solvers, forward-thinking, and skilled team builders. They provide our Mark-it Express teams the leadership required to deliver targeted solutions essential to sustaining profitable growth for our customers, our partners, and our company.”
Apa turned to his alma mater, Western Michigan University (WMU), to prepare for future growth. Mark-it Express has established an entry-level training program and recruiting partnership with WMU’s top-ranked integrated supply chain management program.
The firm has received an Inc 5000 ranking as one of the fastest-growing private companies in the United States. It also achieved The National Association of Small Trucking Companies “Best Broker” status, which represents the top 5% of all brokers in the United States.
Mark-It Express and sister company Mark-it Express Logistics are transportation and logistics companies based in Bridgeview IL. Together, they offer freight management and third-party logistics solutions, with a specialization in fresh, frozen, and temperature-controlled commodities.
The company’s asset-based trucking division provides its TL, LTL, and drayage services to a diverse, international client base, and has plans to continue scaling the business and investing in more capacity to keep pace with demand for its services.
