Tyson Foods Inc (NYSE:TSN) remains committed to the continued growth and innovation of its private fleet. The company recently announced a substantial pay package for its long-haul drivers that took effect April 1, 2018.
“As part of our efforts to continue to attract and retain professional drivers, Tyson Foods increased pay for our over-the-road, refrigerated truck drivers by as much as 15%,” said Mike Franco, manager of driver recruiting for Tyson Foods. “We also increased starting pay for drivers with experience and accelerated the timeframe for raises, so many new drivers will be eligible to reach the top of our scale within one to three years.”
Starting pay under the new compensation plan could be up to 49 cents per mile, depending on level of experience. Drivers top out at 51 cents per mile. Teams can start out at as high as 52 cents per mile, based on experience, with a top pay of 54 cents per mile.
Tyson Foods drivers average 2,600 miles per week as solo drivers and 5,500 miles per week as teams. In addition to increasing pay for its long-haul drivers, Tyson Foods also issued a pay increase for its regional drivers. Starting pay for regional drivers is now 48 to 51 cents per mile, depending on experience.
“Because our fleet is part of the Tyson Foods family,” said Franco, “we also offer benefits such as nine paid holidays, an employee stock purchase plan, paid vacation, a group health insurance plan, and a retirement savings plan with 401(k) matching after a year of service.”
Tyson Foods offers drivers a low-cost premium health care and benefits package.
