Dachser Italy Food Logistics integration complete

March 22, 2018
Learn about the integration of Italian food logistics provider Papp Italia to be known as Dachser Italy Food Logistics.

In 2017, Dachser fully acquired the Italian food logistics provider Papp Italia. Effective immediately, the branch in Verona in northern Italy is now called Dachser Italy Food Logistics SRL.

As a major food producer and consumer, Italy also plays a major role in the transport of goods throughout Europe. This is what led Dachser to acquire a 50% share in Italian food logistics provider Papp Italia in 2012 after a two-year collaboration. Dachser acquired the company outright in 2017. The transition to Dachser systems and renaming the entity mark the final steps of the integration process.

At the heart of the integration was the migration of all logistics processes and IT systems to Dachser standard systems, which was completed in mid-February. This means that Dachser Italy Food Logistics is now seamlessly integrated into all Dachser network processes. Customers benefit from Dachser’s consistent product portfolio “vivengo” as well as from access to the eLogistics platform for end-to-end shipment tracing, proactive discrepancy notifications, and straightforward order and warehouse management. The location is also connected to 33 other countries through the European Food Network. Every day, goods are routed from Verona to the European Food Logistics hub in Frankfurt, as well as to other terminals in the network.

From its headquarters and central terminal in Verona, Dachser Italy Food Logistics regularly delivers 230,000 metric tons of fresh, temperature-controlled, and ambient food to more than 1,200 recipients across Italy every year. The facility near Verona has a warehouse offering more than 183,000 square feet of storage in a variety of temperature zones as well as 41 loading bays. More than 170 employees manage distribution, warehousing and administrative operations.
