FDA: New certification body LSQA in third-party program
The ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB) recently notified the US Food and Drug Administration that LSQA SA of Montevideo, Uruguay now is accredited as a certification body (CB) by ANAB under FDA’s Accredited Third-Party Certification Program for the Produce Safety and Preventive Controls for Human Food (PCHF) programs.
This accreditation means that LSQA now has the authority to conduct food safety audits and issue food and facility certifications under FDA’s Accredited Third-Party Certification Program, FDA said.
Certifications issued by CB’s accredited through FDA’s Accredited Third-Party Certification Program can be used by importers to establish eligibility for participation in the Voluntary Qualified Importer Program (VQIP), and in certain circumstances FDA can require that imported products be certified before entering the United States.
