Third-party logistics company included among NABR’s best companies to work for, Selling Power’s best to sell for

Choptank Transport is celebrating again.

The third-party logistics company, which specializes in refrigerated and dry-van transportation, already is marking its 20th anniversary this summer, and it recently opened an office in Easton MD as part of a five-year plan to add 300 employees.

Now it’s garnering recognition from the National Association for Business Resources (NABR), which included Choptank among its “Best & Brightest Company to Work For” for the fourth consecutive year, and Selling Power magazine, which ranked it as one of the “50 Best Companies to Sell For” for the third straight year.

“Particularly in today’s environment, we are thankful to be in an industry that is deemed essential and continues to grow despite sometimes uncertain economic conditions,” said Pam Hutchinson, Choptank’s human resources vice president. “It is an honor to see our successes recognized by both organizations. In our industry, a sales career offers so much potential for professional and personal growth. Job seekers want to be a part of companies that are expanding while ranking high on culture. Awards such as these put a spotlight on such sought-after attributes.”

NABR recently released its Spring 2020 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For in the Nation. The 2020 Spring National winning companies were assessed by an independent research firm that reviewed key measures relative to other nationally recognized winners.

Choptank was one of 183 honored organizations from across the country out of 1,700 nominations. With more than 20 years of experience conducting the Best and Brightest competitions, NABR has identified numerous best human-resource practices and provided benchmarking for companies that continue to be leaders in employment standards.

“Through the first half of 2020, the Best and Brightest Companies to Work For have demonstrated leadership and forward thinking as they pivoted their business and workforce through COVID-19,” said Jennifer Kluge, president and CEO, Best and Brightest programs. “It is in these unique times, the Best and Brightest Companies to Work For excel and share their knowledge with others.”

Selling Power has assembled and published its list of 50 Best Companies to Sell For, for 20 years. The list includes companies of all sizes, with sales forces ranging from fewer than 100 salespeople to companies with sales-force numbers in the thousands. To gather data, the publication’s research team issued a comprehensive application with detailed sections covering compensation, benefits, hiring, sales training, sales enablement and customer retention.

Gerhard Gschwandtner, Selling Power founder and publisher, said the list is a critical tool for sales professionals to evaluate their options in an era of extreme change.

“Recent shakeups around the globe mean more top sales talent is available to hire, and potential candidates need tools to help weigh options and guide their career choices,” he said. “Each company on this list has created a winning sales culture in its own unique way, with the right tools in place to support a growth-oriented sales career over the long haul.”
