Oklahoma-based refrigerated carrier announces plans to add 150 new Peterbilt Pride & Class trucks over next 15 months

Family-owned refrigerated carrier Hurricane Express recently announced it has ordered 150 new Peterbilt trucks.

The Colcord, Oklahoma-based carrier said it will add 10 Model 389 Pride & Class tractors, reintroduced by Peterbilt in May, each month for the next 15 months, as it works toward growing its fleet to 400 trucks by the end of 2021.

The announcement was made in a Facebook post that quickly drew hundreds of comments and shares.

The new Peterbilt tractors with 70-inch sleeper cabs are powered by Cummins X15 engines. Other premium features include:

  • 23 gauges
  • 272-inch wheel base
  • 5-inch drop car hauler front end
  • 18-speed manual transmission
  • 3:08 rear end axle ratios
  • Factory refrigerator
  • Slick top cab with no lights or horns
  • 22.5-inch low-profile tires
  • Hogebuilt fenders

Hurricane Express, in operation since 1992, specializes in hauling temperature-controlled shipments, including poultry, fish and produce, with a fleet of more than 200 reefer trailers.
